In late 90’s and early 2000’s govt’s and belizeans were excited at the prospect of finding oil we thought here is our ticket to making it big, when it did not come to be ten fifteen years later with this gulf spill we saw and even Mr. Briceno has admitted that he might have been a tad hasty in signing over some concessions which no other politician had admitted thus far and he is coming clean with this, so what is the big deal? If the truth is being told better late than never and it can still be fixed, the other politicians may not do so. The other thing is to help to start doing something about it. If Belize does not have resources to move mere yachts caught up in our reefs nor has a great army of coast guards how will it deal with a major oil spill looking to that Belize is like a delta.
