18 yr. old charged for murder of businessman Ernesto Myvett

Sanjay Lino, 18, a part time construction worker residing at 31 Ebony Street was charged with the murder of Ernesto Myvett, 43, a businessman and ex-BDF soldier, when he appeared today in the #2 Magistrate’s Court.

Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser did not take a plea from him because the offence is indictable. Neither could she offer him bail because of the nature of the offence. She remanded him into custody until December 7.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4.

According to reports, Myvett was alone in his store, located on Maskall Road in Sandhill, when three persons entered, two of them armed with firearms.

Myvett was fatally shot in his upper body as he fled. His assailants stole his 9 millimetre pistol and made their get away in a maroon vehicle that was parked on Maskall Road near to the exit to the Northern Highway.

The police reported that they recovered 3 expended shells from the scene.
