The Ladyville Tornadoes, Island Stars and Millennium girls all enjoyed victories in week 10 concluding the regular season of the Belize district women’s football competition at the Caye Caulker field on Sunday.
The Millennium girls continue to lead the competition and will enter the playoffs as the No. 1 seed with 10 wins, as they got the easy bye to their 10th win: 3-0, when the Hattieville Heat were a no show for their scheduled game.
Tornadoes will also make the playoffs as the no. 3 seed, following a 5-0 blowout of the Ladyville Orchids in the 2nd game of the afternoon. Natasha Young scored the first goal, and Mertell Bailey soon added a 2nd goal to lead 2-0 at the half. Gloria Garcia added a 3rdgoal and Salambu Munnings scored a 4th. A defensive error by the Orchids resulted in that dreaded auto-goal.
The Caye Caulker Island Stars will enter the playoffs as the No. 2 seed with 6 wins, as they posted their 6thwin: 2-0 over the Sand Hill Untouchables in Game 3 of the afternoon. Esperanza Reyes scored the island girls’ 1st winning goal, and a defensive error by the Untouchables’ defender 5-0 final result. Cherrylyn Fuentes resulted in an auto-goal for the 2-0 final score.
The playoffs begin at the MCC grounds on Sunday, November 13.
