Team Belize beats Nicaragua 3-2 at U-18 female volleyball championships

Tegucigalpa, Honduras, December 7, 2011

The U-18 national female volleyball team won against Nicaragua at the Central American Female Youth Volleyball Championship last Wednesday, December 7.

The Belize girls won over Nicaragua: 25-19, 19-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-12.

The U-18 national female volleyball team started competition in the Central American Female Youth Volleyball Championship on Tuesday, 6th December against host, Honduras.  The girls started out nervous and lost the match 25-15, 25-14, 25-17.

Krystal Bevans, captain of the Belize team, commented at the post-game press conference, “The service and attacks affected us. We committed many mistakes which cost us the game.”

Lupita Quan, the Belize coach, remarked, “Despite the ups and downs of the match, we gave a good showing.  I expect my team to be more comfortable on the court in the future.”

The Female Youth girls played their first match today against the host Honduras. They played well but lost 3-0: 25-15, 25-14, 25-17.

On Wednesday, Belize played the favorites, Costa Rica.  Our girls did very well but lost 3 sets to 1.

The members of the team are: Krystal Bevans (Captain), Kaitlyn Woods (Libero), Sherika Burton, Emily Evans, Kadijah Broaster, Hanna Diskin, Nayala Tun, Leandra Betson, Xiomara Quan, Karina Bernard, Alexandra Smith, and Jahshema Saunders. Lupita Quan accompanied the team as Head Coach with Sherlene Johnson as Assistant Coach. Nelita Bradley was Head of Delegation.

    Why is it that the city is the one with good bridged,stadiums ,etc,while the rest of the country has nothing?

    congrats girls,i drive NCAA teams from 3 different university’s here in the states.all volleyball teams.
