No Limits, Running Rebels & Dream Ballers Win in NEBL Basketball

The Baron Bliss holiday weekend brought a series of upsets to the National Elite Basketball League competition at the UB gym on Thursday, at the Belize Elementary auditorium in Belize City on Friday night, and at the SCA auditorium on Sunday.
No Limits clawed their way out of the NEBL cellar as Kenny Brown scored 16pts, 7 rebounds to lead them to a 79-72 win against the Cayo Western Ballaz who fell to 3rd place with 3w – 3l. John Rudon, Mateo Gutierrez and Kyle Young scored 8pts apiece, while Bernard Felix added 7pts and Lincey Lopez, Marcus Lewis and Kevin Domingo posted 6pts apiece.
Cayo’s Daniel “Buddy” Nolberto also scored 16pts; Richard Troyer and Brandon Flowers added 12pts, and Darwin “Puppy” Leslie posted 11pts, while Brandon Rogers tossed in 10pts.
Shemar White led the Orange Walk Running Rebels to their 2nd win: 86-84 over the Belize City Hurricanes at the SCA auditorium on Sunday. White posted 17pts, James Ewing added 16pts, and Elvis Olivera scored 13pts, 11 rebounds. Randy Usher added 12pts, and Roger Reneau – 9pts.
Hurricanes’ Akeem Watters and Leroy Louriano scored 18pts apiece, while Glency Lopez added 12pts and Andrew “Bynum” Ortiz dunked 11pts.
The UB gym was Mudsville for the Belmopan Bandits when the Dangriga Dream Ballers came to town last Thursday night. American import Tahj Wells tallied a monster 30pts, 14 rebounds, while Dilmore Conorquie added 23pts and Quinton Bowen had 19pts, 8 rebounds. Davis Guzman scored 8pts, and Akeem “Timmy” Trapp put up 5pts.
Bandits’ Farron Louriano scored 20pts, Stephen “Muerte” Williams added 16pts and Edgar Mitchell threw in 10pts. Greg “Chippy” Rudon chipped in 8pts.
The NEBL hosts its All-Star night, with slam dunk contest and three-point shoot-out at the SCA auditorium this Saturday night.
