Taye Parkinson & Devesh Hukmani Win SMART Junior Table Tennis Championship

IMG_6267-All-winnersBelize City, June 25, 2017 Taye Parkinson of St. Joseph’s RC School won both the under-18 and the Under-12 Divisions, and Belize Elementary’s Devesh Hukmani won the Under-15 Division; when the Belize Table Tennis Association hosted the annual SMART junior table tennis championships at the BES auditorium in Belize City on Sunday. In the U-12 category, Taye Parkinson won the championship finals: 3-0 over 2nd place winner Che Waight, after advancing out of the semifinals by a 3-0 win over 3rd place winner Gabrielle Gabourel. Waight entered the finals with a 3-0 win in the semifinals over 3rd place winner Huang Yo Yang. In the U-15 category, Devesh Hukmani won the championship finals: 3-2 over BES’ Terry Su. Hukmani advanced to the finals by a 3-0 win in the semifinals over SJC’s Rohit Pagarani. Terry Su made the cut to reach the finals with a 3-1 win in the semifinals over 3rd place winner Amiri Hoare. In the U-18 category, Taye Parkinson won the championship: 3-2 over CJC’s Joshua Gegg. Parkinson qualified to the finals with a 3-0 win in the semifinals over SJC’s Latrell Solis. Gegg reached the finals with a 3-2 win over 3rd place winner Rohit Pagarani in the semifinals. SMART’s representative Adelaide Sabido presented trophies to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the awards ceremony after the finals.
