i was down there fro the september celebrations and the truth be told i was scared. it was so sad to be in my country and fear it. im somewhat grateful that i don’t live in that everyday life that people down there are experiencing everyday.

@ Belize you are absolutely right, there are death squads all over the world and who don’t believe that they living in a fairytale. The Problem with a death squad is the people(cops, agents) that’s doing the “hits” becomes uncontrollable by the government and if that police officer or cop dislikes a citizen for any reason and decides to kill someone on there own without being given the order to do so, they start shooting people who they just don’t like and I personally believe that’s what happened in the case of the cop that murdered Teddy Murillo Jr.
@ Richard, don’t be too hard on Carton some people are just totally unaware, maybe he can get some insight or a reality check from us guys.

I would like Belize Times to do this ad: Work up an ad and ask people to send in letters to their newspaper asking for the Minister of National Security to resign; once the letters start pouring in, Belize Times should full their entire freaking publication with the letters from people asking him to resign; trust me that will make a statement beyond belief. Do this Belize Times and you will see what happens, do a full page ad for this, let see how serious you guys are about getting him to resign and lets see if you guys are really hardcore as you seem to be.

Please Stop The War
The war on drugs, what a terrible war, not to suggest in anyway, that any war is anything less. I read today the US is approaching 1,000 deaths of Americans in 8 years of war with Afghanistan, very sad. Not to mention the Afghans. So where does 17,000 deaths in Mexico alone, because of the War On Drugs, in a lot less time, find it’s justification to continue? In ones wildest dreams you can not find a policy of the governments of the world that has been, not only ineffective, but to the contrary been totally counter productive to every culture touched world wide. The war on drugs and extremist religions are two of the house of mankind’s greatest dividers. And it is common knowledge that “a house divided can not stand”. So, why not start now with the one divider that we can change. The world governments started this war that has taken over the streets of cities world wide. Just where do you think these problems originated? The war on drugs creates more trouble than any drug ever has. Cannabis is the herb of peace not war.. War sucks, stop it.

I think the Minister and the entire leadership of the police department or should i say force s be replaced, otherwise this crime situation will continue to escalate. The govrenment needs to get its priorities right; instead of spending thousands of our tax dollars on endless litigation they should be using these same dollars in funding social programmes to benefit the youths, provide the deparment with forensic capabilities, subsidize a feeding programme for all schools, develop and encouraging a mentoring and after school programme countrywide, and finally do a thorough background check on each applicant for the pollice department and once accepted provide them with the proper training then let them go through a rigourus probation period before graduating from the police academy.

Most of these so- called politicians are self-serving bastards, they don’t really care about the people, and they beleive they are high and mighty, like they are Gods, and that the people should take whatever they do to them, It will NOT work, the police force is to protect the citizens not to oppress them, and the politicians are elected to make sure the RIHGTS of every single peron in Beleize is protected, so when they fail to do their jobs is time to resign, and I could not think of a better time than now. The pepole of beleize deserve better and should demand better. The issue is not with the police, but instead with the Minister of National Security, and the person in charge of crime, if these police officers kenw that they would be held accountable by their government for their actions, they would NEVER have acted in the manner they did, but because they know that have the support of a government, who seems incapable of doing its job, thats way they conduct themselvesd in that manner, it is the same kind of dumb leadership that haunts my country Jamaica. Some ofthese politicans need to be packed in a barrel and tossed in the sea, they make too many persons lives miserable. Enough with some of them.

You see it is politicians like Patrick Faber that prevent nation development. Many of these politicans are the ones to be blamed for the bad economic conditions that the country find themselves, they are to be blamed for dividing the country along political lines, the are to be for hiring and firing persons based on political affliation rather than on merit. It is these kind of politicans that we can do without, how are they any asset to the courtry and its development. If there is no tolerence for dissenting view, then it is safe to say that you are running a country in a tyrannical way, that is not what democrasy is about Mr Parker, I thought Belize was a democratic nation, but I guess I was wrong about hat, when you treat people in the manner alleged in this story, you breed resentment and fuel hate and anger in the person that is tereated unfairly.
